Special Interest Houses
Special Interest Houses are student-directed residential communities centered on academic and/or co-curricular interests. The groups reside on designated floors in Keefe and Ramer Halls. In past years, groups have also lived in Farber and at 225 Reeder Street. Each group is responsible for recruiting new members, establishing an application process, and assigning rooms. Floor rosters are submitted to the Office of Residence Life in advance of Housing Lottery.
If you are interested in joining a Special Interest House, please contact the house president. If you are interested in proposing a new Special Interest House, please review the procedures on the website. (proposals are due by February 15th)
If you affiliate with a Special Interest House, the following policies and conditions apply:
- If your name is listed on a Special Interest House roster, you may not secure an assignment through any other Room Selection process or participate in the Housing Lottery.
- It is your responsibility to confirm your room assignment with the group leadership.
- If you withdraw from the Special Interest House, you will be assigned housing over the summer through the wait list.
- Spaces unfilled by the group or that become vacant will be available for general assignment as needed.
To learn more about the current Special Interest Houses and contact persons, please refer to the information on the Living Group webpage.
The Office of Residence Life manages a variety of living environments in which learning is supported and extended beyond the classroom.
