What is Room Selection?

Room Selection refers to the various processes by which  individual students or groups of students secure housing prior to the Lottery.  Room selection includes Living Groups (such as LLCs, Grossman House, Special Interest Houses, and Fraternity & Sorority chapter houses) and any community or grouping that requires a special application (for example, Wellness Housing, 6+ suite, or Block Housing). Students who are assigned housing through this process do not attend their class year’s General Housing Lottery Event.

Housing Applications

There are several housing options that require a submission of an application to the Office of Residence Life: Living Learning Communities, Grossman House for Global Perspectives, Wellness Housing, Gender Inclusive Housing, Block Housing, and 6+ Suite Housing

Housing Rosters

There are several living groups that self-manage their housing assignment processes. These living groups include: Greek Chapter Houses, Special Interest Houses, Arts Houses, the McKelvy Scholars House, and Department Houses (Portlock Black Cultural Center & Hillel). If you are interested in joining one of these communities, talk to the organizational leadership regarding how to join and/or be assigned to the housing roster.
